Top Two Mural designs for Thunderbird

Window Design

The Window View design looks into Vancouver and illustrates the location of Thunderbird Community Centre in relation to the crow path. The tree growing up the side of the building is an arbutus that is specific to the west coast. The tree is flowering a book as it grows out of the colourful brick books. Along the side wall there are silhouettes of diverse community members.

Sun Design

The Thunderbird Sun is designed to help identify Thunderbird Community Centre and welcome people to it. The silhouette of the douglas fir tree references our connection to the land. The community silhouettes invite all ages to come to the centre and the bricks will be painted in a colourful mosaic by the community.

Previous Design Concepts

Below are some of the other designs that led up to creating the two top. This shows the creative process behind narrowing down the design concepts.

Mosaic Silhouettes of Community

Silhouettes display a range of community dancing and enjoying a picnic. in the background the bricks transform into a mosaic of many coloured books. The book represent knowledge and our diverse stories. Alone each book is different and unique. Together the books form a strong wall which represent the power of connected community. The crows also signify community and Thunderbird's location on the crow path.

From the base of brick books sprouts the tree of knowledge and the lungs of our planet. The tree cradles a nest and blossoms of books .The 3d window is a  Trompe-l'œil or Trick of the eye. From the correct vantage point the perspective will appear to be real. Through the window's view we can see Vancouver with the crow migration commencing. Hidden in  the sun is a Thunderbird designed By Alano Edzera  http://www.edzerzagallery.com/
